Appleton Estate have been making rums since 1749 , they are known as an Estate rum because they do everything on their estate, including growing the sugarcane, distilling and ageing the rums, as well as bottling and labelling. Even the water source is on the estate. Jamaican rums have a particular ‘funk’ in its flavour profile, which makes them unique and highly sought after. Jamaica follows Scotch whisky laws, which state that the age statement on the bottle has to be the age of the youngest rum in that blend. Therefore, this 12 Year Old Rare Blend has rums that are older than 12 years old. Toasted oak, dried fruits and hazelnuts on the nose. The palate is rich and luxurious. Lots of molasses, biscuits, dried fruits and cocoa. The finish is long, dry and oaky. A bartenders’ favourite, so use it any way you like. Great neat and makes for amazing cocktails.
