Armagnac is the smaller cousin of Cognac, but although it doesn’t have the same global acclaim, the liquid is just as elegant and refined. While it can be made from up to 10 grape varietals, Delord uses just four. Single-distilled and at a lower ABV off the still, this makes for a very flavourful liquid. The ageing is done in cask and then transferred to glass demijohns. The VSOP has buttery notes of Macadamia nuts and a slight green note. The flavour is sweet with raisins, prunes and cocoa, still some young spirit fire in there. The finish is long and sweet. Best served neat after a meal.
