Tequila is made from the agave plant, which is not a cactus, but a part of the lily family. The best tequilas are 100% agave, which means all the alcohol is derived from the blue agave plant. A blanco tequila has been kept on either steel or oak anywhere between one day to 60 days. Some producers do this for the flavours to mellow, or to add a touch of age to it (if aged in oak). With a label that is steeped in Mexican culture and history, Espolon tequila is made for cocktails. Bright clear with clean notes of cooked agave, black pepper and citrus. The pepper is evident on the palate as well as cooked pineapple vanilla and spice. The finish is elegant with a touch of spice.
