Originally released in 1963 to mark the occasion when Jameson started bottling their own expressions instead of selling to bonders. This whiskey contains a large portion of pot still whiskey, which has been aged in sherry butts. The whiskey is still young (6 or 7 years old), so it has lots of youthful character. The nose has lots of big sherry notes, underpinned by orchard fruits. The palate has delicate sherry undertones and toasted wood, with fruit, spice and chocolate notes. A long lingering finish of honey and oak and sherry. Best enjoyed neat.
